ESL
The format is one of one-on-one instruction and conversational practice on relevant and specific subjects of interest to the students. Students are evaluated and placed with a particular teacher according to level of English language skill (beginners or advanced). In addition, teachers assist students seeking assistance with understanding questions that may be asked as part of the U.S. Citizenship Exam.

Health
Education offerings include a health information table that is staffed by nurses and other licensed health professionals each Saturday. Health classes are also offered on a periodic basis or in a short-term series. Offered subjects include: dental health, diabetes, heart health and pregnancy and childbirth. All classes are taught by licensed professionals.

Pregnancy Care and Counseling
Services are provided in association with the SA Pregnancy Care Center of San Antonio, headquartered at Callaghan and I10. Counselors are available on site to provide general information and to explain services available at their other locations. Confidential pregnancy testing, counseling, education, supplies and clothing resources are provided by the SAPCC.


The following classes are offered on a voluntary basis and are funded separately from other CHRC services and activities:

Adult Bible Class
This area is coordinated by Bob Escamilla, pastor of Woodlawn Grace Church. Bob Escamilla has primary responsibility for bi-lingual teaching of these weekly sessions held from 10:00 to 11:00 each Saturday morning, as well as lay counseling. Attendance ranges from 50- 125. The class is a combination of Bible study and praise, music, communion, stories from its participants and much prayer.

Children’s Bible Class
Classes are available for children 3 years old through 6th grade and are taught in an exciting and flexible format. The classes are taught by teams come and go format to accommodate the comings and goings of students throughout the 3 hour sessions offered on Saturdays. Class time consists of multiple presentations of the life skills Bible lesson, songs, crafts, games, and limited use of video. Snacks are also served because many of the children would not have eaten before coming to class.
