Although CHRC serves our San Antonio community as a whole, we focus on the needs of those living in the zip codes that immediately surround us (78201, 78207, 78228, 78237)

Our west side community:
• Juvenile Justice System referrals - increasing 10% each year
• Confirmed victims of child abuse - 1303
• Domestic violence reports - 2378 (4 of the top 7 zip codes)
• Crime - 23% of all violent and property crimes citywide
• Family structures are non-traditional
• Education levels are low
• Median incomes range from $20,000 - $30,000
• Population - 198,275
• 43% of population is less than 25 years old
• 82-97% of residents in the 4 zip codes are hispanic

In 2007, 11,416 of our kids were referred to Bexar County Juvenille Probation, a number that is increasing by approximately 10% each year. Confirmed cases of child abuse totaled 1303 in our neighborhood, the highest concentration of cases in the city. We live right in the center of 4 of the top 7 zip code areas for domestic violence in our city.
